Locals know and the locals have voted Ricardos Mediterranean Kitchen the Best restaurant in Kelowna in a range of categories. Wednesday around 10am we received a call from Sue, Ricardos wife and co owner of Ricardos Mediterranean Kitchen in Winfield BC. At 1 30pm we were there meeting Sue and Ricardo for the first time. Wow. What great people, dedicated and passionate, its not surprising that their restaurant is so highly rated and honored by awards. These awards dont come from food critics but from people who eat out, and the best critics are people who frequent restaurants. We have never dined at Ricardos Mediterranean Kitchen but look forward to doing that nowand doing it on a night when there is live Jazz played by local musicians. I have always wanted to film restaurants, especially food preparation I am a big fan of Iron Chef and I love food and video so its a natural indulgence of my passions. But wait, we met Sue and something else became very apparent, the passion that Sue and Ricardo have for the restaurant business. Not from a business perspective but from a service perspective, the philosophy is really quite simple. Great food, great price, great service and they will come. They have poured their soul into Ricardos Mediterranean Kitchen working up to 7 days a week 12 14 hours a day, and they still find time to laugh and be happy. Cindy and I are meeting passionate people every day who through vision and hard work are accomplishing amazing things, so now one of …
Unlike Betty Crocker, Chef Boy-Ar-Dee was NOT a fictional advertising icon; he was a real Italian chef. Hector Boiardi came to the US as a teenager, became chef of a Cleveland hotel, and then opened a restaurant where his spaghetti recipe became famous. The rest is history. (It became “Boy-Ar-Dee” because that was easier than having to teach Italian pronunciation to 1950s housewives) As Colonel Sanders did, Chef Boiardi (note the accent on the middle syllable) used to appear in his own commercials.

A very strange Asian/Italian fusion restaurant. It has a fairly bland interior, bad music, but I can’t really fault the food. My Thai vegetable pizza was quite tasty, really.

Twitter.com – Follow Us! Hey Guys-New Moon might be out, but the fun on the Robsten front is just getting started. I’m Joslyn Davis and ClevverTV is breaking down what went down after the movie release. Welcome back to ClevverTV’s look at Robsten. Even thought the dynamic duo is maintaining a low profile, speculation regarding their relationship is getting hotter by the moment. After all the craziness of the press tour and the LA premier, the New Moon-ers had to head out east to promote the film in New York. As soon as that was over though, it was a weekend full of relaxation for Robert and Kristen. The hot couple skipped out on the official after party and instead headed over to Tribeca eatery Megu. Robert was seen outside the restaurant, and being the coy stars they are, Kristen somehow managed to sneak in without being seen by the papps. But it’s being confirmed that K-stew did join her leading man inside for some Japanese food-and Robert had a few beers also. New Yorkers inside Megu didn’t pay attention to the twosome at all. Insiders say they weren’t overly affectionate, but that everyone knows that they are together. Overall they looked like they were having fun and relaxed. R and K finished off the weekend before jetting together back to LAX. We hear that Robert still doesn’t have a place to call home in LA, so do you guys think he’ll be spending some time with K-stew and her fam during the holiday season? Hit the comments section and let us know. Thanks for …

David Oquendo, En Mi Viejo San Juan – Amor Cubano 8/18/09 David was born in Havana, Cuba in 1958. Self taught, Oquendo absorbed the essence of the Afro Cuban rhythmical vernacular in the poorest neighborhoods of his native city. Even though he was not conservatory trained, his passion for music, his discipline and self-criticism, took him to the point where eventually he was considered one of the best guitar accompanist in Cuba. This was evident in his appearances at El Rincon del Feeling, Cabaret Tropicana, Cabaret Internacional de Varadero, Salon Rojo at the Hotel Capri and many more venues. As accompanist, David has worked with artist of the caliber of: Moraima Secada, Elena Burke, Lucho Gatica, Meme Solis, Maggie Carles, Lenny Andrade, and many others. Michelle, the barmaid, does a little dancing, shows us how to ride a swing, and starts a little fire!
Another early start rattled us out of bed on May 5, 2008. My brother, sister-in-law and I decided to embark on a day trip to Italy from our local home region of Styria in Eastern Austria. We first drove south from Austria into Slovenia where we were greeted with rain and a fair amount of traffic. We made our way west towards the Italian border and drove past the city of Trieste to stop at the famous white limestone Castle of Miramare, a 19th century castle built for Austrian Archduke Maximilian and his wife, Charlotte of Belgium. The location of the castle on a promontory of the northern Adriatic Sea is stunning, and the castle is surrounded by 22 hectares of parkland. We continued our drive to the historic northern Italian town of Grado, also located on the Adriatic Sea. This is where the rain caught up with us, but we took advantage of this break by having a leisurely lunch in a local seafood restaurant. From here we started our trip back to Austria, driving north through the Italian Province of Friuli Venezia Giulia past the City of Udine towards the high Julian Alps that rise up in the corner between Austria, Italy and Slovenia. The mountain vistas in the Val Canale (Canal Valley) were stunning, and we stopped off to pick up some Italian olive oil and prosciutto in the border town of Tarvisio. This is incidentally the area where 3 major Indo-European languages meet: the Romance languages (Italian), the Slavic language (Slovenian), and the German languages (Austria …
